PLA 2022 Virtual Conference logo. The BIG IDEA is Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s roadmap to build, improve and grow in the areas of inclusion, diversity, equity and access. This presentation outlines its three phases: build a foundation on awareness, assessment and conversations; improve through application and grow with execution and measurement. The roadmap is the strategic guidance for TLCPL to ensure substantive and measurable change in recruiting, hiring, training, collection development, programs, digital access, physical investments and organizational strategy.

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this on-demand webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to create an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access roadmap;
  • Identify methods to enhance engagement across all levels of their organization; and
  • Link IDEA initiative to library vision, values and expectations.

Panelists

Erin Baker is the Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. Previously, she was the Coordinator for Organizational Learning and Manager for Kent Branch Library. Erin received her Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and Master of Business Administration from University of Notre Dame. Currently, she is the mayoral appointed Chair for the City of Toledo Human Relations Commission. Erin is passionate about supporting community through resources and purposeful programming.
