Nurturing Growth: Supporting Student Employees in Academic Libraries on Their Journey to Success

Description: This presentation will explore effective supervisory practices for student employees in academic libraries, focusing on how to nurture these individuals to enhance library services and create a welcoming environment for students, faculty and community partners. By providing practical strategies for supervision and professional development, attendees will learn how to build a positive experience for student employees, who serve as essential front-line representatives of the library.

Presenters:

Stacie Khoury has 11 years of library experience, 10 spent in youth services in the public library and 1 in academia. She is the Colorado State University Pueblo Outreach librarian and LINC (Learning, Innovating, Networking and Collaboration) Center manager and supervises 18 student employees, both undergraduate and graduate level. Stacie Khoury is the 2025-2027 Colorado Association of Libraries ALA Councilor.
