Here Comes Kindergarten: How Public Libraries Can Promote School Readiness

Starting Kindergarten can be scary for parents and children, and school readiness numbers are in need of a boost. Dallas Public Library will discuss their early literacy program “Here Comes Kindergarten” and share their planning process, results, and lessons learned.

By attending this webinar, you will:

  • Understand the need for school-readiness programming and how the library can fill this role as an informal educator
  • Learn a replicable example of school readiness programming that could be launched at most libraries
  • Learn an example of reflective practice in library programming and how it can be adapted based on program performance, available outlet for presenting, etc.

Haley Kral is the Early Literacy Manager for Dallas Public Library and the Branch Manager for the first ever mall library for children, Bookmarks in NorthPark Center. She has worked in libraries for over 14 years, and children ages 0-5 are her favorite people.

This event will be hosted in Zoom. This event will be recorded, and registrants will receive access to the recording once it is available.
