Collection Management for Today’s School Library

In school libraries, our collection must satisfy several stakeholder groups. Your collection impacts faculty, parents, your community, and of course, your students.

In this webinar, you will learn the basics of how your community uses your collection and how you can assess it to ensure it is as effective as possible. You will learn how to develop a diverse collection that stays on top of current trends and includes materials that will be in high demand among your students. You’ll also gain ideas for making your collection accessible and inviting to your school community. You will walk away with strategies for managing your collection budget and for funding the purchase of new materials.

This event is offered as part of ALA Learning's Summer of School Library Learning.

After participating in this webinar, learners will be able to:

  • Assess the school library collection and how it is used by the school community.
  • Begin developing a diverse, dynamic, and in-demand collection.
  • Manage the library’s collection budget and locate alternative funding sources.
  • Present the library’s collection in an accessible and inviting manner.
