Librarians will learn how to use the "RUSA Professional Competencies" and the resources available in, Competency-Based Career Planning, to assess their professional skills and abilities, create and implement individual plans for professional development, and assess their progress in enhancing their professional skills and abilities. The webinar and book cover public and academic librarians interested in access services, information sources, information literacy, marketing and advocacy, assessment, collaborative and innovative services.
By the end of this webinar, the participant will be able to:
- Create and evaluate a development plan for the participant's career
- Understand use of evidence to evaluate individual development programs
- Evaluate and select potential development assignment plans
- Learn how to evaluate potential partners for collaborative programs.
Jo Bell Whitlatch's extensive library experience covers three academic libraries in many areas, including collection management, acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, refeencem interlibrary loan, and library management. She has also taught in the San Jose State University Graduate School of Library & Informatio Science and is a past president of RUSA.
