Giving Storytime a Tune-Up: Embedding Music Activities to Support Texts and Engage Participants

Learn specific songs, rhythms, and rhymes that pair with a diverse array of titles to bring a greater amount of equity and social justice into your storytimes. You'll also learn ways to communicate the importance of music activities in building early literacy skills.

Katelyn Martens-Rodriguez is a youth services librarian in Washington County, Minnesota. Prior to working in public libraries, she was a school librarian in southern Minnesota. She is an active member of ALSC and focuses her work within social justice, equity and inclusion. She is passionate about storytime and looks forward to the opportunity to reconnect with families for in-person programming.
